The Leaf Complex
Deep in the Konoha Valley, at the heart of the village, various Shinobi rudely brush past in the hub of the Konoha Village metropolis, the Leaf Complex. A large wide red tower juts from the skyline, it's elongated structure a proud symbol of the tenacity and resolution of this proud community. Emblazoned upon the front in bold black strokes on a red background, is the kanji for fire. It is inside of this building, the Hokage's Tower, that the offices of the Leaf Council reside, and it is here that the grand office as well as the dwelling of the Hokage is located. Occasionally one might catch a split-second glimpse of mere shadows, their faces masked, protective armour gleaming as the radiant beams of the sun reflect off it. The ANBU, the elite squadron of Ninja working directly under the Hokage, are frequently seen--or, as is more often the case, not seen--here, making sure all is well.
A nondescript gray building attached almost as an annex to the Hokage's Tower is the ANBU Headquarters and Detention Center. Only a few who are on the path to acquiring their ANBU masks--and smaller still the entire number who already have--ever see the inside of this building beyond the lobby and perhaps an interrogation room down the hall. The building runs underground, where several cells and many of the more hardcore and less sterile torture/interrogation rooms run, concealed away from easily prying eyes and soundproofed by layers of metal, dirt, and sound-absorbent material to ensure that even the loudest screams are never heard outside of the room from which they are emitted. At the topmost level is where the offices of the ANBU Commander and Vice-Commander sit, neither grand nor spectacled, as spartan in decoration as the nature of the ANBU themselves. Within the Complex, accessible only by the regular ANBU and the Captains, is a private elevator that runs to all the levels of the Hokage's Tower so as not to hinder nor project the movement of the ANBU as they ensure the security of those within.
Another nondescript building close to the ANBU Command and Detention Center is the the ANBU Training Annex. It is here that the young ANBU Trainees recieve their instruction on interrogation, intelligence, counterintelligence, and general field training. Drills, exams, scenarios, and obstacle courses are all held here to assist in the training of the new class of the best of the best. It is also here that most of the ANBU and ANBU-in-Training bunk, though the Captains and some senior ANBU each have their own quarters within ANBU Headquarters so they're always on location to respond immediately.
Nearby to the Tower, a rabble of children intercept visitors, the chirp of their voices audible over all else; squeals of excitement and anticipation as they head towards the Ninja Academy complex, their innocence blinding them to the grievous tribulations that lie ahead. The Academy is a large, sprawling building where both tiered and flat classrooms, indoor and outdoor training facilities, and faculty rooms all cluster together to make as efficient a teaching area as possible for the ninja-to-be that attend excitedly, oblivious to the horrifying nature of the path on which their life was travelling down.
A bit away from the Tower, nearer instead to the Hospital, is the Konoha Legion. This building is a safehouse for the veterans who have served in the previous Waterfall War. The building itself is unimpressive and plain, but within are several retired ninja--some might still be active, but not many--who call the Legion their final home as they try to live out the remainder of their days in peace, an allowance decreed by the previous Hokage in thanks for their steadfast service. Those within are all mostly kindly folk who just generally appear somewhat tired, some of them more vacant-eyed then others. Those deemed mentally unstable are brought instead to the Medical Center's Psychiatric Ward, but most just bask in the peace prevalent within the building, enjoying a game of chess, go, or shougi with other residents, and sometimes visitors.
Ahead lies the Konoha Medical Center, a place of healing; a crucial part of Konoha's infrastructure as a Military Base of operations. The sterile white building, in it's very design, looking quite 'hospitalesque'. Inside is of course the lobby, where most visitors and non-emergency patients enter from. The desk is usually manned by a nurse or a Mednin Trainee who helps answer any queries, be they about visiting hours, directions within the facility, or about admittance records. Many of the admittedly few computers that exist within the entire village are located within this building, where transference of information is most time-critical in regards to the lives of the shinobi of the village. One such example of these technological wonders called 'computers' sits at the lobby desk. A side entrance into the building is the emenergency entrance, which leads directly to the Emergency Rooms, of which there are two, though there are other surgical rooms higher up within the building. The on-call room is kept close to the offices, which is the at the center of the hospital so all areas are equally accessible to reach in a crisis. At the end of that hall are the two largest offices, those of the Medical Branch Chief and Sub-Chief.
Within the Medical Center, there is also one area of the building dedicated exclusively to the ANBU and any patients they bring in...3rd Floor A-Wing. This is the hated ANBU Ward, where all the prisoners requiring medical attention are kept, and all the beds have reinforced straps to keep patients securely in place and incapable of using handseals, and all the doors are locked and guarded at all times when occupied. These patients are usually in the worst shape and requiring the most critical of care...and the least amount of questions and visitors. Because of this, the ANBU Wing is offlimits to any but ANBU, including medical and ANBU trainees, and even full Mednin are only permitted in when treating a patient.
